A clarification

If anyone was in doubt as to why Cane Toads are a pest, I hope this photo of one, courtesy of my Dad, will clarify matters!

Yah, I think I saw one of those in the market in Luang Probang, right? Right next to the pig head or the live ground hogs!

Hello Fred
Just managed to access the site after trying unsucessfully via yahoo. The scenery looks great and love reading all about your travels - only wish I was flying down those hills on my bike - what a picture. Have to be content with the seafront.

While you are in NZ (Auckland) you could see if the hotel that your great great grandmother died in is still there and take a picture. Its the Manukau Hotel, Onehunga, Auckland. She was there from Australia where they lived visiting her son whose wife had just had a baby and she caught a chill and died. She is buried at Waikaraka Cemetery, Onehunga. Friends of mine looked it up for me a year ago and took a photo of the plot but there is no headstone. The place they lived at in Australia was Cunnamulla, Queensland. Her second husband was James Scott and he took a post there as schoolmaster some time in the 1880s.
Hope this isn't too boring. Her name was Elizabeth Scott (Lydia) as she liked to be called.
Will close now and have another look at the frogs.
lots of love Barbara XX
